WONDERCABINET : Lawrence Weschler’s Fortnightly Compendium of the Miscellaneous Diverse
WELCOME
Ren and David are both off sheltering this week, but to tide you over, two recent additions to the AV Room:
* * *
The AV ROOM
1. A conversation from a few weeks back about the late Robert Irwin, between Ren and Arne Glimcher, the founding director of the Pace Gallery which was Irwin’s principle exhibiting venue for over forty years, moderated by Pace’s chief curator Oliver Shutz, at the Donald Judd Foundation’s New York City outpost, where three of Irwin’s penultimate pieces remain on view through the end of this month.
For the full conversation, see here.

& 2. The first episode of Confluence, a new PBS series on the intersection of art, science and technology, for which Ren was a consulting advisor, and which features, among many other choice bits, an extended segment, starting at around minute 18:30, with Ren and two of his favorite subjects, the Oakes Twins, Ryan and Trevor (vividly memorable to Cabineteers from our own earlier episode #46 as well as here) as they undertake a more-than-typically optically accurate concave daily portrait of the lower Manhattan skyline:

Oh, and one more thing. Earlier this centennial year, we delved into the still achingly pertinent and ever more sheerly gorgeous legacy of James Baldwin across an entire issue which, if you missed it, you might want to revisit here, especially since tomorrow, August 2nd, is going to be the actual centennial of the excellent fellow’s birth. (And that issue’s AV Room was particularly brimming with salience and grace.)
